Electrical Project Engineer

Bayside Energy Solutions™ is a growing renewable energy consulting services firm looking for the right candidates to join the team. We are seeking an experienced renewable energy professional with prior project electrical design experience in the utility-scale renewable energy industry. We are devoted to providing the best customer experience in the renewable energy industry and the Electrical Project Engineer is essential to that commitment.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Assists in managing the design, engineering and construction of renewable energy projects.  
  • Draft preliminary solar and battery storage site layouts, single line diagrams, substation general arrangements, substation single line diagrams and PvSyst modeling.
  • Provides technical support to the Project Manager in proposing electrical systems. This will include performing site suitability investigations on site and via desktop analysis, running production modeling using PVsyst and other tools and selecting equipment and product models for each system design.
  • Analyzes technical drawings, interpret specifications, and determine the electrical requirements of a given project.
  • Coordinate interconnection design and schedule with utility.
  • Manages the organization and responses to RFIs and submittals based on the design requirements and contract documents. 
  • Prepares and provides regular updates of the project execution plan and schedule including engineering, procurement and construction activities.  
  • Supports the external bidding process required to procure goods and services necessary for all phases of project execution, including preparation of bid packages, evaluation of proposals and recommendations to senior management.  
  • Provides and or coordinates engineering support for development and permitting activities as needed. Responsibility for overseeing execution of and compliance with construction contracts and works with construction team to ensure adequate scopes of work under the contract and adherence to the requirements during construction.  
  • Arranges for and organizes regularly scheduled project meetings to facilitate, confirm and communicate status of progress and assign tasks.  
  • Reviewing and providing comments to the Project Manager on project execution and commercial terms of EPC contracts.  

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the electrical design, engineering and construction of renewable energy projects is required for this position.  
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical engineering with 2+ years in design of renewable energy projects. 
  • BS in Electrical Engineering with a PE preferred.
  • Ability to travel, relocate and live at construction sites around the US. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and flexibility in terms of assignments 
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; problem solving techniques; ability to take direction. 
  • General understanding and ability to use project scheduling software and methodology; Microsoft office suite; and strong Excel/Spreadsheet analysis; Teams, and SharePoint. 
  • Familiarity with construction processes, project contracts, engineering practices, construction techniques, wind, solar and battery technologies. Green hydrogen experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail; focus on accuracy, consistency, and quality of work; high degree of integrity & reliability 
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
